About Us

Creole Resources is dedicated to uplifting and supporting the Haitian community in the Spokane County region. Our mission is to provide essential resources, promote cultural integration, and foster a sense of belonging among Haitian and Black immigrant families.

Our Story

Creole Resources was founded in 2023 by Haitian and Black immigrants in response to growing disparities facing our community in Spokane. Our organization was built from lived experience, urgency, and the need for culturally specific support where none existed.

In 2024, Creole Resources obtained independent 501(c)(3) status, formalizing our role as the only Haitian-led organization in Eastern Washington providing emergency legal and living support for Haitian immigrants.

Since our founding, we have:

Launched Spokane's first Haitian-led Emergency Legal and Living Support campaign
Hosted the city's first Haitian Independence Day celebration with an official mayoral proclamation
Developed multilingual Know Your Rights and deportation preparation materials
Built trusted partnerships with churches, businesses, and community organizations
Organized advocacy efforts and public education to protect immigrant families

Katia Jasmin

Executive Director & Founder

Katia Jasmin is the founder and executive director of Creole Resources. A Haitian immigrant and community leader in Spokane, she built Creole Resources from the ground up to fill a critical gap: no Haitian-led organization existed in Eastern Washington to provide emergency legal and living support for Haitian immigrants facing crisis.

Under her leadership, Creole Resources obtained 501(c)(3) status in 2024, led Spokane's first Emergency Legal and Living Support campaign, and organized the city's first Haitian Independence Day celebration — earning an official mayoral proclamation.
